Scrabbling *!@$%^&^@,@>.*

Occasionally, I like to scrabble a few words, thoughts, verses, lyrics of mine.
It's a habit. It has no theme, no format, no grammatical rules to follow. In other words, it's purposeless, borderless and most importantly without any audiences to address to.
Just scrabble.
It can be in Mandarin, English or even Malay language version.

今天 [Poem311208-1]
如果童年就在昨天 成长在明天 我愿意留住今天 让童年的画面清晰地 留在脑海中
让对明天的期待永远留着

Today
If our childhood stayed on Yesterday If our growth grew on Tommorrow I make a wish to stay on Today so that the image of Yesterday remains vividly clear in my mind

回忆 [Poem311208-2]
抚摸整个脸颊 停留在曾有他味道的烙印 回味着 回味着 只剩下我世界里的回忆

My Memory
Touch thoroughly each cell on his face
Staying on the mark with his aroma
Taste, Feel, Touch it
They are now left in my memory

Holy spirit or evil spirit works during Christmas season?

Are U recently quite tied up with Christmas dates, dinners, sales, parties, and so on?
I'm one of them.

Did we get any benefits or satisfactions from these endless activities during Christmas???
I gain extra weight, suffer from obesity...at the same time, I listen to inspiring sermon, testimonials, good news.

One question strikes my mind at the end of the day after Christmas...:
Holy spirit or evil spirit works during Christmas season?

For Christians, Christmas is the birthday of Jesus Christ, our saviour. It's the day when the Good News spread.
One of the prayers we always do with our pastors during Christmas:

Alba Father, in this great day, we remember our mission in this world, that is, spreading your Good news. Lord, be our saviour, cast away our sins and accept us as your sons and instill in our heart your precious words. May your holy spirit work upon us so that we keep a good relationship with you and do our part in fulfilling our mission, that is, spreading your gospel. Lord, protect us from the evil spirit that will be the blocking stone of our Christian life. In Jesus most precious name we pray. Amen.

Despite the great effort made, some people may choose the other routes which give way to the evil spirit. They might be engaged in their own world of materialism, hedonism, hypocriticism, sex, drug, alcohol, etc. For example, the evil spirit of materialism may work in form of Christmas sale when some people overspend their money for luxurious Christmas celebration or gift. Another example can be that the evil spirit of hedonism embeds in all forms including endless Christmas meals, parties, etc in which their pleasure is the chief goal of the Christmas day.

Reflecting on my own Christmas activities, how long have I been spending on my own pleasure and on God's pleasure???

I do another prayer for myself:
Alba Father, human beings are weak in your eyes. I'm weak and easily gave way for the evil spirit. Lord, forgive me and cleanse my sins with Jesus Christ's blood and your love. I'm regret of my sinful self. Lord, please strengthen and discipline me. Rule my heart with your words. Guide my foot with your light. Save me from the worldly temptations. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Have you allowed the holy spirit or the evil spirit to work during Christmas? You have a choice. Be WISE.

Have a blessed Christmas season and Happy New Year!

Winter Comes...

Chinese People's Winter Solstice Festival (冬至"Dong Zhi") always falls on 24th of the eleventh lunar month or a few days before Christians' Christmas Day. Literally, the phrase "冬至" means Winter Comes.
During this festival, Chinese will always eat glutinous rice ball (汤圆"Tang Yuan"). This food is made of glutinous rice rolled into balls. Nowsadays, there are various way of making glutinous rice ball. It can be dry, stirred with peanut, milk or coconut powder. The other alternatives can be served in soup, stuffed with peanut, red bean, cocoa paste, etc.

As usual, as Chinese, my family celebrates this traditional Chinese Festival. At the same time, each year, my mum will bake the raw ingredient of glutinous rice ball as well as cooked glutinous rice ball to be sold in the Sunday market. Helping my mum, I found less and less customers each year buying or eating our traditional food on this meaningful traditional festival. One cause could be people spend less due to economic crisis. This is considerable excuse. Another cause could be Chinese forsake their tradition gradually.

If the Chinese forsake their own tradition gradually,it is a threat to our Chinese tradition. It is my main worry. This scenario not only evident during Winter Solstice but also other Chinese festivals like Chinese New Year, Moon Cake Festival, Dumpling Festival. Worst still when the Chinese traditional virtues (e.g. respecting the elders, loving the family, being loyal to own spouse, hardworking, honest) are no longer been practised. This is much more significant in Chinese young generation.

I lament for the lost. The lost of our Chinese tradition which is evident each year. I beg for all Chinese generations to remember our traditions and practise them. Each of them has their meanings.

Taken for example, eating glutinous rice ball custom during Winter Solstice Festival has its memorable meaning that was transmitted by our anscestor. Glutinous rice ball (汤圆"Tang Yuan") resembles REUNION...Hoping and Wishing the whole family reunited and living in harmony as well as happiness. It is also a custom of commemorating the lost of the loved ones and wising for the future aspirations of a better life.

So, all Chinese, have you eatten the glutinous rice ball during this Winter Solstice Festival. If no, DO SO!. You can make and eat the glutinous rice ball together with your family, friends, lovers, relatives, etc...spread your love.
